Quick Fly GT40 Tuning

This article is just a quick way to show how I added some weight up front without using thin sheet lead under the chassis. This would be the preferred method, but since I was out of sheet lead I decided to try and fit a 1/4 OZ of lead using the old standby tire weights that have a self-adhesive backing.

As I looked inside, I found where I wanted to place it but there wasn't room to clear the interior. I noticed the front interior post and after looking at it closer it appeared I could cut this section away. Out came the Dremel with a cut-off disc and in a few seconds I had room to work with.

Just this slight amount of weight up front helps this model in non-magnet format a great deal. After some generous tire sanding, this model simply floats through the corners with excellent drifting action. Like them or not, these GT40's by Fly are fast becoming a long lasting favorite of mine, especially without the use of the magnet.
