Welcome to the 1st Annual
Home Racing World Fly Tuna Classic!

So just what is a Tuna Classic?
This is a tuning competition based on the Fly Classic line of 1/32nd slot cars.

The Fly Classics are some of the most popular slot cars we have in our hobby today. In spite of any of the issues they may have, nothing has stopped enthusiasts from buying them. This is due mostly in part to how beautifully some of them are detailed and of course the series they represent. Some only collect, but most of us out there do not want any shelf queens. We want to tune and tweak these models to get them to run smoothly and to perform to our expectations. If this sounds like fun to you, read on!

What is a Fly Classic?

Fly Classics are a series of models that are based primarily on classic GT and Endurance races such as Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, and others from the late 60's and 70's. Although not officially in the Fly Classic line, models from the GB Track line are also included.

The series and classes allowed are:

Ferrari 512S
Ferrari 512S Berlinetta
Ferrari 512S Coda Lunga (longtail)
Lola T70 MKIII B
Porsche 908
Porsche 908 Flunder & longtail
Porsche 908/3
Porsche 917 K
Porsche 917/10 Turbo (Can Am)
Porsche 917/10 Spyder
Ford Capri
Lancia Beta MonteCarlo
Ford GT40 MKI & MKII
Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona
BMW 3.0 & 3.5 CSL
Chevron B19 & B21

THERE WILL BE BOTH A MAGNET & NON-MAGNET CLASS

You pick any Fly Classic and tune it the best you can while preserving the original chassis and body.

Why keep the original chassis? We want to see how you can tune one of these beauties without investing a great deal of time and money. Simply discarding the chassis and replacing it with a newer, more high performance one isn't really tuning it. You can change everything else if you wish, wheels, tires, axles, gears, guide etc...but we would rather see you put your tuning skills to the test using as much of the original model as possible.

You can either mail in your model to be raced and judged here at HRW, or better yet come join us!

We will be hosting the Tuna Classic here during the weekend of the 26th, 27th and 28th of November.

This is Thanksgiving weekend, so if you are out and about visiting friends or relatives, or even if you have a long weekend, we encourage you to come down and visit us. You will get to race all the entries and help us judge a winner. And as always, there will be free food and beverages to keep you fueled up for the racing:)

1st Place - A Brand New Fly Classic with Indy Grips

2nd Place - A Brand New Fly Classic

3rd Place - 2 Pairs of the Indy Grips of your choice plus a new PARMA Economy Controller (your ohm choice)

Judging will be based not only on performance but in how much of the original car you utilized. We will time all entries using LapTimer 2000 on our new 4 lane Artin Dixon Hills Speedway. Each model will get 25 laps per lane. We will have the Pyramid power supply set at 12 volts and for control we will have PARMA 35 ohm Economy controllers.

This really isn't about prizes, it is about the fun of the hobby. We want to encourage more of you to get started or more involved in this great hobby, and perhaps discover a series of models that can bring you literally years of racing fun. We also would like to see more of you try and make the trip down here to see us. Racing the models yourself is a lot more fun!
