New Artin 1/43
A
couple new cars are arriving soon from
Slot Car World and I thought they deserve a quick look for those fans of
this scale. The first is a model that caught my eye quickly in the pre-release
photos and looked forward in getting some track time with them.
This new model is based on the Mercedes 300SL "Gullwing" car. Again, it isn't perfect scale-wise, but I like the looks of it a great deal.
There are 2 versions slated for availability in the coming month. These are still "sticker" cars yet that does make things a little easier to re-paint. The cars come with the H2 chassis and I was happy to see at least a variance in the wheel department.
These little cars are fun to drive to say the least. I can easily slide these cars through the corners with control being very easy. I don't like to add any magnets to these cars as I feel the ones it comes with are more than enough. I am currently running my models on our Artin 2 lane 1/32nd scale track with 12 volts power and Professor Motor controllers. The lights on these cars make them a great deal of fun for night racing too...a part of our hobby we have grown to appreciate a great deal.
Another new item is the Porsche. More colors and designs are coming in as well. I think this model has decent lines to it and is ideal for the scratch-builder. It sits on the I1 chassis as most of you are familiar with.
At
only 6 bucks each, its hard to complain if you ask me. The Mercedes is a car
that I felt was missing for my racing and I plan to get more of them for
re-paints. Stay tuned because this is not the last of the new releases SCW is
bringing us:)
