Readers Roads - Steve Menendez

This Artin 4 lane layout is simply a slot racer's dream. It combines some of the techniques we have suggested over the years to start a smooth running, and high quality track that can grow with your needs over time.

Control is the reliable PARMA 35 OHM controllers. Power is supplied by the Pyramid PS-26 KX 0-15 Volt, 25 AMP adjustable power supply. 15 volts is more than enough voltage for home racing use and having an adjustable supply makes it great for slowing things down when younger children want to race.

The track was hard wired using the Professor Motor Wiring Center #1071

The design has all the elements for a very fast, but challenging circuit. The long straights really let you "open'em up"!

The layout is not finished of course, but the basics are all in place. Some track painting and scenery will evolve very soon.

Above on the right you can see where the holes were cut in the table for the placement of the Lap timer track and for running the wires for track power.

The second section to the right is where we ran 1 power tap. More are planned, but for track testing 1 was enough to get racing.

The side boards were custom cut from 3/4 inch plywood and then the insides were lined with R board blue foam insulation.

This comes in handy when you get a little heavy on the throttle and hit the wall!

The new Professor Motor Lap Timer For Artin was used here. The timers comes as one solid unit and everything was hot glued in place.

The track also comes with LapTimer 2000 on a disk that is ready to install.

The control stations are made using standard electrical boxes that were wired for a polarity switch to reverse track direction.

The quick disconnects allow for ease of controller changes, yet are very durable and provide a great connection.

The Artin car above was painted by Steve's Dad. He made the decals himself.

More coming soon!
