Everyone has their own way of storing and/or displaying their slot car collection. We have always built shelves in the past, but to be honest I needed something better. Why? Because no matter how I designed my shelves, our old basement just kicks up too much dust and our poor models would get dirty in a hurry. In the past year I have been keeping all my new models in the cases they come in to prevent this but the problem was that many of my NINCO classics among other models were without cases. This is because the cases were so big that they took up too much room and would not fit on my current shelf system. So the solution? Either take the time and try and build a sealed case myself (ha!) or get a quality case ready to go.

The case I chose is by Carney Plastics. They make a wide variety of cases for all scales of slot cars plus diecast and trains. I chose the 1/32nd scale, 24 individual compartment case. I also wanted the car stands to keep the tires up off the ground. This comes in handy as it helps prevent flat spots on the tires. They would also keep the case clean if you are one who treats your tires with any chemicals such as glue or oil.

These acrylic cases are mirror backed and sort of hard to photograph. Here are some shots from their website.

The car stands come in a separate package. You set it up for the size you need.

For these cases, I had to trim off some of the legs as they were too long. But that is ok as they are designed to be trimmed. You just snap them off by hand, then clean them up a little if you want.

The case comes with the mounting hardware you need. BE CAREFUL if you use a power drill to mount the screws. The screws have a rubber grommet and you do not want to over-tighten them. I mounted mine with a drill, but stopped right before it seated and then did the rest by hand.

I also got a bottle of "Brillianize" to clean the case. It is great stuff as it really buffs it up nice and shiny. It also worked great on cleaning the cars. I really like this product.

SIZE: 23 3/4"High x 23 7/8"Wide x 2 7/8"Deep

This case with all the mounting hardware PLUS all the stands is $100.00. I think that is fair enough. I can remember a few years back at some of the hobby shows that cases that were smaller than this and had no stand options costing $125 to $150. If you don't want the stands the cost is $79.50. Again I think that is a fair price.

DONE! Now my classics finally have a decent home :)
