For the most part I prefer race versions of my slot cars. I have a few street cars of course but they are very few and far between. However, if there is a special line of models I have a soft spot for it is police and safety vehicles. It is true that I am easily amused , but sometimes playing with models like this one is a nice distraction from the "normal" racing and modeling we do.

This release interested me not only because of the theme, but also that it is in the new NINCO 1 Series line. This series is perhaps my new favorite from NINCO. Not only do I like some of the models they have like the race trim versions of this car and the Mustang, but I also like how they run. The milder motor combined with very good rubber on the rear just makes them very enjoyable to drive.

As it is, I think NINCO did a decent job of producing a Highway Patrol car in 1/32nd scale. I have always liked the shape of this Vette and it looks great to me in this trim. Tampo stampings are very clean as well as the rest of the paint and clear coat. The California Highway Patrol logos are actually very close to correct for those that are curious.

For those that have been in our hobby for awhile should recognize the light bar. It is the same used on the Mercedes DTM Safety car just different colors.

Looking underneath we see this model is identical to the other releases in the series.

However, as much as I like these types of models there is simply ONE ITEM that I want to know: Do the sirens work? What is the point of doing a model like this without having the lights work? Because if they don't, it just takes the fun factor away from the model for me.

Well these lights DO work and they play the role well. Although the light bar appears orange on the ends, when it is lighted is a bright red color. They also flash alternately which is even better. But the icing on the cake?

The front headlights blink as well. This was an added touch I really liked. The only thing I wish is that they included working rear lights. A small item I know, but it would have just completed the car a little more. As it is though, I am at least pleased with the effects it has.

For those that like models such as these I think you will be happy. It runs very well out of the box and it really looks the part. For a fun and different model to play around with from time to time this release should please most of you, especially if you have the occasional law breaker show up :)
