The return of drag racing in HO scale might be one of the most popular decisions Auto World has made. Yet since the day the news broke a couple years ago, there was one question on the minds of many die-hard enthusiasts: " Will they ever make the dragsters again? "

The answer is of course an enthusiastic YES! Few releases in this scale has produced so much anticipation and rightfully so. Not only will they remind some of us of our youth, they bring yet another option to the successful return of the series.

Packaging of these models is very attractive and most collectors will really appreciate it. The model is easily viewed and is ready to hang on the wall or be placed in stacks on a shelf.

Overall execution of these machines in this scale is very good to my eyes. No, they are not perfect but they capture the essence of the prototype very well.

Fit and finish is about as good as you can ask for in this scale. The cars appear to be decorated with one large decal which has decent enough detail for most.

Hopefully the photos here can help you decide. When you stop for a minute and think about how they had to capture the look of these machines in this scale, using a chassis like this, then you can really appreciate the efforts here.

The standard 4 gear chassis is used here with larger diameter tires.

Half way down the body we have an extra guide pin to help keep things straight and finally some hard plastic wheels up front.

You need to remove the front screw to free the chassis from the body.

Operation of these cars is where the fun is, and for us they are certainly that. Both models operated perfectly right out of the box as they should. They are not too fast given the magnets in place and we like it that way. Seeing these cars launch off is a sight to see I can assure you.

Of course advanced enthusiasts are going to have a field day with these and who could blame them? These have a decent platform to work with and that is usually all the advanced speed demon needs to start.

I am very happy to see these models released and equally pleased that they look and run as well as they do. Auto World has really increased the appeal and fun of HO scale with this drag racing series and these models have just made it even better.
