Welcome To The Hobby Of Home Slot Car Racing!

About Us

Congratulations on discovering what we feel is the greatest hobby on Earth. Regardless if you have already purchased a set and some cars, or you are just now finding out what this hobby is all about and looking to get involved, let us welcome you to our little site.

My name is Harry Wise and along with my wife Cindy we have built this website as our way of giving back to a hobby that has given our family and friends years of enjoyment. My family and I reside in Missouri in the small town of Dixon. We race out of our old basement and we always have our door open to visitors.

My wife and I are just your average people who is fully aware that we are addicted to little slot cars. We don’t think of ourselves as “serious” about our hobby. To us, that word just doesn’t fit when we are talking about a hobby.  A hobby is supposed to be fun…a break or escape from all the stresses of “normal” life…not serious. We like to think of ourselves as motivated…not serious.

When we look at all the time we spend on this website and all the reviews and articles, we never think of it as work. We enjoy doing this. For us, writing and talking about slot cars, taking photos of them and sharing them with others is all part of the fun in this hobby.

We are not really into the vintage arena of the hobby, nor were we around for it. I do like to read and learn more about the vintage side of the hobby because I find it fascinating. Some of the work and modeling efforts some have put forth in building these older models is simply amazing.

I enjoy racing on routed wood tracks from time to time and have built 2 of them in our home. But you can have just as much fun with any plastic track and our Artin Dixon Hills is still around and will be for years to come.

When it comes to racing and having fun with slot cars we are “modern-era modelers”. Artin, Carrera, Scalextric, Ninco, Monogram, Fly, Vanquish MG, Spirit, MRRC, SCX and Slot-It are mostly our interests.

Although 1/32nd scale is our main interest, I do dabble in HO scale. I do more collecting than racing however. I still enjoy the HO hobby, but my interest in it is more of nostalgia than anything else. I like the models available from the Grass Roots sections of the hobby where I can get incredible looking detail in the old models of my youth. My wife isn’t into that scale at all but she supports my helpless fascination with it.

When it comes to racing our 1/32nd scale models, I hardly ever get “serious” (there is that word again). We enjoy getting together with friends, inviting over newcomers and local (some are not so local!) racers and perhaps hold a BBQ and just race the cars. Most times we don’t even use a lap counter. We just pick some cars out of the collection and start banging fenders.

We also enjoy racing 1/24th scale models. using the H&R Slider and other chassis, we have created some fantastic Saturday Night Stockers. Our love for oval racing is pretty clear and building dedicated cars for this series is great fun.

Inside this website you can find some of the latest reviews on cars, accessories, track systems and more. There are also technical areas that lists ways for you to get the most out of your latest acquisition. We also like to feature other enthusiast’s home or club layouts so you can see and learn from what others are doing.

While you are here, I highly suggest you visit our Online Forums and have a look at what others are talking about. You might find someone that lives close by, or perhaps they are talking about a model you either already have, or are planning on getting.

This forum is one of the most informative sources for you to take advantage of. The current members of our site are in my opinion the most helpful and knowledgeable enthusiasts in our hobby today. They always have time to help the new enthusiast and they do it well. We feel the newcomer is one of the most important members of our hobby and we try our best to make sure he or she gets the help they request.

Our goal is to try and help others have fun with this hobby and to help spread the word about it to the rest of the world. We hope you find information here that helps you get the most out of your hobby.
