Take Control!

The Professor Motor Controller

When it comes to best controller you can get in the hobby today, many enthusiast will tell you that Professor Motor Controllers are the ones to have. I have been wanting to grab a pair of these for quite awhile now, but it always seemed something else came first. Well they have finally found their way into our home racing and I can't believe I had waited this long!

Our model was chosen for our new Artin Road Course that is powered by Scalextric Sport Power Base, and hook-up doesn't get any easier as it is "Plug and Play" straight from the package. It has ultra-low sensitivity that is compatible with both the Ninco 17 volt and Scalextric 16 volt transformers. I have to admit that for the longest time, I didn't think I really needed an electronic controller. However many of my friends out there have advised me to get one because they felt it added so much to their hobby. I have to say now that I agree, and it is one of those cases where I wish I would have listened to them sooner.

So what makes an electronic controller better? Well the good Professor has already taken the time to explain his Theory of Operation, so I will let you click on that link and read it there. I am certainly not as smart with electricity as he is, as I know just enough about electricity to respect it, and hence keep me alive.

The first thing most notice about this controller is its size. It certainly catches your attention, and rather quickly I might add. In our home, my 6 year old son is quite the racer, and I was concerned if the controller was too large for his smaller hands. But such is not the case, in fact he really took a liking to it and he has no problems using it to beat me in our NASCAR racing as usual.

When you hold this controller, and take a good look at it, you see and feel quality. They use nothing but the best components in the construction of these, and it shows when its race time. I found the trigger operation to be smooth as silk, and once you put one in your hands, you won't want to let go! Of the many things I like about this controller, the durable 16 gage PVC insulated leads are one of them. They are long enough for just about any driver station and the soldering work at the controller connections are excellent.

So how does it perform? Flawlessly. I tested this controller on a wide variety of models, and each one ran beautifully. The resistor modulated braking system works better than I expected, with throttle response on all the models tested to be crisp and precise. In fact, I think its safe to say I am now spoiled by it. On something like this, it is hard to explain in words. Every model seemed to just "wake-up" and run so much better, almost as if you could change cars without changing your driving style.

In the end, what can I say? This controller is a high quality product that is backed up by equally high quality customer service. I had a chance to meet the good Professor earlier in the year, and his knowledge of the hobby and dedication to helping customers makes this product an even greater value. If you are wanting to get the most out of your hobby and want the best controller available today, I have to advise you grab a pair today. It just adds to the fun of this great hobby, and fun is what it is all about. Nice Work Professor!
